This piece explores the constant rollercoaster of emotion that Jews in the diaspora are facing since Black Shabbat (October 7th, 2023). We are oscillating between intense sadness, grief, and frustration over what has been done to our community, both in Israel and the diaspora, as we witness firsthand a sharp rise in antisemitism.
Simultaneously, though, we are experiencing great pride in our Jewish identities as we rally together to support our local diaspora community, and our Misphacha family in Israel. To be Jewish is to often be overcome with intense emotion, both good and bad: yet we can choose to use both our grief and our pride in service of the larger cause of supporting each other.
